About Stephen

Stephen’s role as Of Counsel reflects his expertise and experience in advising families and professionals on legal issues, and specifically on estate planning, will structuring and the administration of their estates, also acting as a professional trustee where appropriate.

His work, during a career of more than 40 years, has involved dealing with complicated and complex legal, taxation, financial and family-related issues not only in Ireland but internationally.

Stephen advises on the legal and tax aspects of wills, estates, trusts and other family estate issues. He has a particular skill in dealing with cross-border estate issues as well as difficult family-related issues.

Stephen is a member of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, the Irish Taxation Institute and the Law Society of Ireland. He is recognised nationally and internationally as pre-eminent in his field in Ireland.

Stephen is a former Chairman of the Kildare Street and University Club, the Music Festival in Great Irish Houses, the Queen’s Institute of District Nursing in Ireland and also of Golden Fleece – the Helen Lillias Mitchell Artistic Fund.
Stephen enjoys travel, watching rugby, listening to music with a wide taste from Bach to the Beatles, also the theatre in Dublin and London.
